Henning Suhr was born in Hamburg and studied Economy and Political Sciences in New York, Berlin, Potsdam and Florence. He graduated in 2006 and holds a Master Degree in International Relations. After having been engaged with the GTZ in Eschborn in Germany for several months, he started his career with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in May 2007 as Project Assistant in Rio de Janeiro.

From 2009 to 2012 he worked at the KAS Head Quarters in Berlin as Desk Officer Southern Africa. Hereafter he was Director of the KAS Country Offices in Costa Rica/Panama and then Venezuela. Since April 2017, Henning Suhr is Director of the KAS Country Project South Africa, based at the KAS office in Johannesburg. One of his focus areas is consultancy for political parties including political communication. In Venezuela, he worked extensively on the strengthening of alliances among opposition parties.
