The DDP invited Heather Thuynsma (political consultant/lecturer/author) to facilitate a 2 ½ day advocacy workshop titled Civil society and media management to equip civil society organisations (CSOs) with the skills to write stories that would inspire action.

CSOs a have a huge role to play in sending out information on issues beneficial to the upliftment of the communities they serve and exposing the real issues faced by their communities. This information however, cannot be picked up if not well written in the organisation’s media platforms. The hands-on workshop gave an opportunity to CSO member to do practical exercises and group tasks on how to structure and formulate a strategic plan to produce to the point, well-structured media communication to inspire action. The skills learnt from this workshop were praised by participating CSOs as great skills that will assist them in amplifying awareness on issues they advocate for and write well-structured and to the point proposals for funding in the future.
