TRAINING OF CIVIC EDUCATION PROCESS FACILITATORS : 20 CIVIC EDUCATION DIALOGUES CONDUCTED

Civic Education dialogues with our partners in different communities in Durban surrounding areas, Pietermaritzburg, INK area, Durban Central and surrounding townships, Umtubatuba and in the South Coast.

To date, this program has seen 20 civic education dialogues conducted in different townships, rural areas, informal settlements and regions in KwaZulu Natal. The areas include Ntuzuma, KwaMashu, Magabheni (south coast), Bhambayi, Maoti, Pheonix, Engonyameni, Umlazi and Pietermaritzburg to name a few.

As an organization whose work spans over two decades in democracy and civic education, the Democracy Development Program intends to develop a cadre of active citizens who have the interest, knowledge and ability to roll-out several civic education initiatives over the course of the year.

DDP, as a value preserved in its work and character, believes that most of those work requires the strengthening of partnership networks in the civil society sector, which then leads to concrete efforts that can be undertaken in different communities- these efforts, because of the diversity of skills, resources and positions, can yield deepened impact in the building of sustained constitutional democracy.
