Democracy Development Program in partnership with Multi-Mind Investment Holding held brunch session at Garden Court Marine Parade in Durban last week to celebrate women’s month.

The event was about empowering women with knowledge and a space to network with other business people in order to grow their business.

The session was attended by women from the Durban area who are entrepreneurs as well as active partners on the DDP’s community builder’s network.

There were presentations from prominent businesses like Standard Bank represented by Thalente Madonda. Here are some important areas of the conversation/ presentation.  

  • Bringing women into the ITC and broadband business industry
  • Small business management –cash flow, advertising, finances as well as professional connections.
  • More cooperate support
  • Understanding gross profit and gross turnover, and managing expenses in a business.
  • Having more than one reliable contracts.
  • The 5C’s - : Capacity, Capital, Character, Collateral, Conditions, ect.
  • The importance of educating your staff about treating the customers.
  • Be mindful of what you want to achieve as an entrepreneur.

The eThekwini Municipal Academy shared insight on some of the programs they have for the youth as well as women in the province, presented by Buhle Ntshangase.

Delegates had an opportunity to also learn about the KZN Film Commission- incubator program.

There was entertainment from a poet and a group of pop singers, as well as gifts for the delegates. DDP gave away 15 Spar treatment vouchers, lunch voucher as well as a getaway voucher from the Blue Marlin Hotel.
