The Lindelani Youth Forum recognises that in their community the number of young people at Lindelani/ Richmond farm are leaving under unforeseen circumstances, these circumstances are inclusive of unemployment, lack of access to skills development opportunities and educational opportunities. On the 20th February 2019 LYF organised a Youth Empowerment Indaba to assist in bridging this gap. The Democracy Development Program supported this initiative conducted by one of DDP partners LYF, this was done in the presence of it’s Partner Liaison Officer Ms Mbalenhle Mkhize to ensure DDP’s full visibility and support for it’s CSO partners.
This was meant to look at two youth related matters which are career development and business development. The Indaba was supported by other partners such as the Lindelani Local Library, Harambee, National Development Agency, Successors Institute, Africa Unite, DREAMS and the cherry on top was their local doctor who was born and raised in the area Dr Qiniso Mlita as a keynote speaker. The youth of Lindelani came in numbers to support this initiative and as DDP we recognise the importance of the development of young people, hence we are always keen to support such initiatives.
