By Sthabiso Mdledle – This initiative was a multi stakeholder initiative which sought to combine practical learning elements and conversational engagement.
The Lindelani Youth Forum (LYF) in partnership with Thandiwe AE/FET, held a digital skills workshop and youth dialogue at the Ntuzuma A Hall on Saturday, 11 February 2017.
The workshop equipped members of the community with practical digital skills they can use to take advantage of various online media platforms to better their lives and that of the larger community.
This initiative was sponsored by Google, One Africa Online and The Fact Foundry.
At the end of the workshop participants were given free digital skills certificates.
The second part of the program LYF partnered with the DDP youth desk to dialogue around the issues affecting young people in the community, as well as deliberating on improving the relationship and communication of youth-led community based organisations (CBOs) and local government officials.
