On 31 December 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) China country office reported a cluster of pneumonia cases in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China. Severe acute – respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been confirmed as the causative virus of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Several provinces in China and other countries have also reported cases. Most cases to date have links to China and person-to-person spread has been confirmed. It has then spread to all over the world and the World Health Organization (WHO) has classified it as a “pandemic”, calling all countries to take precautions to mitigate against the spreading of the disease resulting in infections.
The virus is transmitted through touching;
Do not shake hands
Do not hug
Do not touch your face (eyes, nose or mouth) if you have not disinfected your hands
Through touching infected surfaces (can last from eight to ten hours on surfaces)
Wash hands well with soap and water several times a day,
Sanitize with an alcohol-based sanitizer when no soap and water is available.
Through coughing or sneezing;
Sneeze or cough into a tissue, and discard immediately
Stay away from crowds, open doors with the inside of your elbow, do not touch railings (on elevators or stairs).
If you have developed a fever and a dry cough, self- isolate and seek medical attention a.s.a.p (consult your healthcare provider)
