Assignment title:             MANUAL CONTENT DEVELOPMENT

Contract duration:          1 month

Duty station:                     South Africa, Kwa-Zulu Natal

Travel:                                 no travel is required, to attend virtual meetings with the project team

  1. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

To ensure that CSOs/CBOs engaged with migrants and working against Xenophobia in marginalized communities of Kwa-Zulu Natal are capacitated and provided with skills to intensify their networks and gain expertise in community dialogues and advocacy activities.

  1. PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
  • Language, Terminology, Glossaries to Define Migration, Types of Migrants and Economic Activities of Migrants
  • The Role of local and international organizations/NGOs involved in handling the issues of migration and migrant rights promotion
  • Legislative Framework and Migrant Rights
  • Migration, Informal Trading, and Governance
  • Policy and advocacy tools
  • Monitoring and Evaluation

  1. DESCRIPTION OF THE ASSIGNMENT
    • Task description

The service provider will

  • liaise with the project team and develop the content for the manual for the CSOs workshop.
  • Research
  • Design and layout of the manual
  • Send an overview of the manual and draft version for input before the final version is developed.
  • Develop the material and submit a professional print-ready version of the manual that will be used for the CSOs workshop
  • Deliverables
    • 26 February 2021- overview of the manual
    • 12 March 2021- 1st draft of the manual to be submitted to DDP for review and feedback.
    • 22 March 2021- the final version of the manual to be submitted to DDP

  1. CONSULTANT QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

-The service provider must:

  1. a) have proven experience in developing manuals and other training resources.
  2. b) be a subject matter expert and have an in-depth understanding of the subject matter in relation to the area of work.
  3. c) have an excellent command of the English language.
  4. d) be able to proofread and edit your own work before submission to the organization.
  5. e) Ability to research and write at a high level.
  6. f) Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
  7. g) Able to produce high-quality outputs in a timely manner.
  8. h) Strong organizational skills.
  9. i) Ability to work independently and produce high-quality outputs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the Executive Director, Project Manager, and Head of Administration, the Consultant will do the following:

  • Develop a time-defined proposal (including a work plan) of the methodology the Consultant aims to use to undertake the manual development.
  • Development of an inception report
  • Develop a draft training manual
  • Develop facilitators guide to accompany the training manual
  • Finalize the report based on inputs from stakeholders

Required Skills and Experience Education

  • University degree in development studies or any of the Social Sciences degree:
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
