DDP and Migration Project: Journalism Training

DDP and The Migration Project recently partnered with Internews on the Durban leg of their week-long media training workshops for journalists from different parts of South Africa and the SADC region, titled “Changing the Narrative About Migrants in South Africa and SADC”.

The workshops, which took place from the 22nd to the 25th of February, are aimed at helping journalists improve their quality of reporting on migrants and issues of migration. The overall objective of the project itself is to:

  • Provide sensitive and in-depth reporting on migration, xenophobia and migrants rights in South Africa
  • Elevate the voices and stories of migrants in their coverage, with the overall goal of changing the narrative about migration and migrants in the country.
