The prevalence of bullying in South African schools has become a serious concern that requires urgent attention.  Democracy Development Program in partnership with Phakamile Mazibuko Foundation conducted a dialogue aimed at addressing Bullying in schools. The dialogue was held in Ndlovana High School (Mkhazane, Ulundi), 25 February 2022. We urged the school community to collaboratively work with schools in promoting safe, inclusive and conducive spaces for learning. The audience were Grade 12 learners and the schools’ RCLs. The stakeholders who were present and supported the dialogue include the school principal, two Life Orientation teachers, Mahlabathini Circuit Management as well two psychologists. The DDP representatives were Mr Mhlongo, Mr Mahlaba and Phakamile Mazibuko (PMF).

The outcomes of the dialogue:

  • Learners were educated about bullying to promote safe and conducive learning environments.
  • Learners were assisted to understand their roles in addressing bullying in the school.
  • Learners were encouraged to actively participate in order to promote inclusive and transformative school activities.
