Youth, Democracy and Elections: Promoting youth political participation and engagement: reclaiming a youth-friendly democracy
The Democracy Development Program in partnership with the Open Society Foundation SA and Developing Youth hosted a dialogue with the youth in Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas. This dialogue was guided by the above-mentioned theme; looking to enhance youth participation in the upcoming 2024 Provincial and National Government Elections, educating the youth about the National Development Plan, Independent Development Plan, and various community structures at a community level that young people can actively participate in. The dialogue explored different channels that the youth can use to achieve socio-economic growth through the National Youth Development Agency.
The dialogues were held at Dukes Hall and Mbungwini Community Hall in Mkhambathini Municipality in Pietermaritzburg on 21-22 May 2022, these dialogues were facilitated by Wiseman Dlamini, the DDP associate facilitator.
