DDP was proud to launch its official podcast channel. The podcast name is DDP Podcasts and is found via this link: https://open.spotify.com/show/20JW0AYTXg8ugE8u3ly92g?si=9159ed4bae314180

The channel was launched on 30 March 2022. It has 3 published episodes since its launch date. The guest speakers so far have been:

  • Dr. Paul Kariuki, DDP Executive Director
  • Ms. Heather Thuynsma, University of Pretoria Lecturer and DDP Board Member
  • Dr. Sithembile Mbete, Senior Lecturer at the University of Pretoria and Director of Programs at Futurelect

Our guests have covered human rights issues, democracy, and populism. Our Communications Strategist, Yanga Malotana, has been leading the project – producing, hosting, and editing it. We look forward to more incredible speakers for the year, including renowned academics like Prof Siphamandla Zondi, and Dr. Vusi Gumede; youth activists like Mr. Thabo Shingange, and Ambassadors like Ambassador Hakan Juholt from the Swedish embassy.

The podcast channel has been a new venture for DDP that seeks to promote the organization’s 2022 theme by discussing topics that directly affect it. By December 2022 we hope to have 100 streams and followers. We also hope to be on more than one streaming site specifically Apple Podcasts, before the year-end. As it stands, episodes are uploaded once a month, however, from July 2022 this will change to bi-monthly to accommodate more guests.
