Youth, Youth Formations and Participatory Democracy in South Africa -Exploring The Dynamics

Delegates at the Youth Session in KwaDukuza.

Youth formations and Student formations have always been at the center of youth participation in the South African struggle both in Apartheid and Democratic governments.

Their participation in Democracy and Electoral Democracy remains critical if democracy is to thrive. It is for this reason that the Leadership of youth formations a Youth Day conversation and also charts the way forward in terms of increasing youth participation for the National and Provincial Elections 2024 and beyond.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SESSION

  1. Create a platform for Youth Formations, student formations and Youth organisations to Celebrate Youth Day under one roof.
  2. Strengthen relations between the Commission, Youth Formations, Student formations and Youth organisations in preparation for the National and Provincial Elections 2024
  1. Empower young citizens with information to participate meaningfully in democratic processes.

This session was hosted by the  DDP  in partnership with the IEC, in KwaDukuza on 8 June 2023.
