Prof. Mogie Subban
Professor Mogie Subban is an academic and public governance expert based at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her qualifications are B. Admin, Hons, Masters (Cum Laude), D. Admin. She has supervised several graduates with Honors, Masters and Doctoral degrees in various aspects of the field of public sector governance. She currently serves on numerous national and international journal boards, publishes widely on various public governance aspects in journals and books, including an evidence-based multi-layered case studies book funded by the EU: Public Administration Challenges – Cases from Africa. She has an exemplary track record training emerging, middle and senior government officials through various capacity-building programmes in the public service. Prof Subban served as a member of the Standards Generating Body Committee for all public sector qualifications and contributed to writing of all unit standards for SAQA approval.
She is a former Head of Dept (DUT) and served as Programme Director for KwaZulu-Natal’s Human Resource Conventions under the previous leadership in the Province. She was often invited to critique the provincial budget of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Treasury MEC given her public finance expertise. She has served on several committees at her University playing a significant role, and recently represented the institution and country in a speaking engagement on Inequality and Declining Labour at the G20 country discussions held in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. She is currently working on a significant project with CoGTA in KwaZulu-Natal dealing with disaster management and vulnerable settlements in flood-prone areas in the province. Prof Subban is currently the Chairperson of the Southern African Schools and Departments of Public Administration and Management (ASSADPAM) and a Public Sector Committee member of SAICA. She is currently engaged in various book initiatives as part of her ongoing avid research. She is passionate about women empowerment and actively supports mentorship initiatives.
