uThukela Women Conference & 70-Year Commemoration of uThukela Women (1956-2026)

Uniting Generations. Strengthening Voices. Building Tomorrow, Together.

Building on the momentum of the highly successful Women's Conference recently hosted by the Democracy Development Program (DDP) in Durban, the movement to advance women's empowerment continues with the uThukela Women Conference and 70-Year Commemoration of uThukela Women (1956-2026).

This significant gathering celebrates seventy years of women's leadership, resilience, and contribution to social transformation while creating a platform for meaningful dialogue across generations. The conference brings together women from diverse backgrounds, sectors, and communities to share experiences, learn from one another, and explore collective solutions to the challenges facing women and society today.

Through intergenerational conversations, leadership development, and community engagement, participants will reflect on the legacy of women who paved the way for progress while inspiring a new generation of women leaders. The conference seeks to strengthen women's voices, promote active citizenship, and foster collaboration that contributes to stronger families, thriving communities, and a more inclusive future.

The event was made possible through the support and partnership of:

  • NGCWETI Organisation
  • Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung South Africa
  • Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality
  • uThukela District Municipality
  • Operation Sukuma Sakhe War Room
  • National Development Plan (NDP) 2030
  • KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government
  • A Nation That Works 24

Together, these partners are committed to creating spaces where women can connect, collaborate, and drive positive change across KwaZulu-Natal.

As we commemorate 70 years of the remarkable journey of uThukela women, we reaffirm our collective commitment to empowerment, leadership, equality, and community development.

Stronger Women • Stronger Families • A Better Tomorrow.
