She has contributed to the Democracy Development Program, integrating scientific innovation with public policy. Her extensive publications cover medicinal plant morphology, phytochemistry, essential oils, and green synthesis of nanoparticles. Dr. Akwu is committed to mentoring future scientists and policymakers, promoting responsible nanotechnology use for sustainable agriculture.
Prof. Isaac Khambule
Isaac Khambule is a professor of political economy and the Director of the Africa Centre for Evidence at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He was previously an Associate Professor of Political Economy at the Wits School of Governance, University of the Witwatersrand, where he taught Decision-Making in Public Institutions and was the Academic Head of the Executive Education Unit.

Prof Bheki Mngomezulu
I have worked well with DDP on my fronts. These included facilitating workshops on the role of political parties, civil society and the public in strengthening democracy. I also worked with DDP in facilitating the training of various stakeholders during the 2024 general election. We have also co-authored a book.

Specifically, she focuses on social and public sector appropriation of ICT for individual emancipation, governance, community development and national growth.
Dr. Amara Galileo
Dr. Amara Galileo has recently completed her PhD from the University of Delaware in the United States. Involved with DDP since 2023 during her time conducting fieldwork in South Africa, she has greatly benefited from the organization's workshops and network of scholars and civil society practitioners. Her contributions to the work of DDP include a report on the political involvement of South African youth in both electoral and non-electoral capacities, as well as an opinion piece on the prospects of the GNU.
Miss. Thelma N. Nyarhi
Thelma N. Nyarhi is currently pursuing her PhD studies in Anthropology at the University of Cape Town (UCT). She has lectured undergraduate Anthropology and Sociology courses with focus on identity, digital technology, migration and globalization topics. Her research interests lie within migration, democracy, citizenship, identity and belonging etc. She has authored multiple opinion pieces broadly on African sociopolitical and socioeconomic issues.
Prof. Gerrit van der Waldt
Prof Gerrit van der Waldt is a research professor in public governance, attached to North-West University (NWU). He is a National Research Foundation-rated researcher and is the author and co-author of 52 textbooks, 157 scholarly articles, and 95 internal handbooks for institutions nationally and internationally, such as the Swedish Institute of Public Administration (SIPU), the Rwanda Local Government Association (RALGA), the Vrije Universiteit (Amsterdam), and the African Cities Network.

Professor Nomkhosi Gama Xulu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cape Town (UCT). She holds a BSocSc from the University of Natal, an Honours and PGDip in Higher Education from UKZN, an MA in Social Sciences from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität in Freiburg, Germany, and a PhD from UCT. A Fulbright scholar and Global Studies Program alumna, she has held academic and research positions at UKZN, Durban University of Technology, and the Chris Hani Institute.
